Permanent Courses

As well as the public courses below, Dunedin Orienteering support permanent courses at;
- Berwick Lodge (Otago Youth Adventure Trust)
- Tirohanga Camp (Otago Foundation Trust)
and a new course is planned for Sutton Camp (Otago Youth Adventure Trust)

ROSS CREEK.
  
Printed copies are available for a nominal sum at the Dunedin i-Site on Princes St, and the DoC Visitor Centre, lower Stuart St.
Easy course - start triangle, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and back to the start - approx. 1.2km
Easy extension - as above, plus 10, 11, 12, 13, 10 and back to the start - approx. .8km (2km in total)
Difficult extension - start triangle, 14, 24 followed by a river crossing (omit 24 if river levels are high), 25, 23, 22, 21, 19, 20, 26, 16, 15 and back to the start - approx. 3.5km.
So visiting all 23 controls could cover approximately 5.5km distance.

CHINGFORD PARK.  
Easy course - start at the North Rd gates, 2, 50, 4, 5, 7, 49, 57, 19, 20, ,21, 56, 8, 51, 12 and back to the start - approx 1km.
Difficult course - start at the North Rd gates, 12, 51, 8, 57 (if no archery taking place; 15, 52, 17), 56, 39, 31, 30, 29, 26, 34, 33, 54, 21, 20, 19, 25, 49, 7, 5, 4, 50, 2 and back to the start - approx 2.5km.


SANDPIT, NASEBY FOREST.  
Sponsored by Naseby Vision  www.nasebyvision.org.nz  to meet the needs of Curling groups requiring an alternative activity.  There are 15 control sites around Sandpit.  The map is specifically made for Mountain Bike Orienteering (or MTBO).  Waterproof copies of the maps will shortly be available from the Naseby Shop and Information Centre, for $4.
Should you choose to print the maps below yourself, consider going and donating a few dollars to Naseby Vision via the Naseby shop, or spending some money at the local businesses - so that you are contributing to the local community.

The map shown below is the one generated for the Curling Rink - a course for walkers/runners, where you visit some of the checkpoints in a set order.  It takes about 30-45 minutes to get around, depending on how fast you go.

The map below is designed for walkers or runners to visit all the checkpoints in any order they wish - rogaine style.

The map below is the one for mountain bikers wishing to do a MTBO course.  It might take about 45 minutes to ride, including the Advanced track.
